From the chap that brought us Firebug and the Facebook iPhone application. Expect good things. :D

Googlepedia for Chrome (Alpha)

Disclaimer: This is very rough and full of bugs!

I’ve finished writing a very experimental Google Chrome version of Googlepedia. This is still very rough. There’s no update mechanism for extensions (or any kind of management for that matter) built into Chrome yet. If you do install it, make sure you come back here for less buggy and faster versions when I manage to hack them together. You’ll need to update to Google Chrome 2.0

How to install:

  1. Download Chrome Channel Switcher
  2. Change your channel to ‘Dev’
  3. Click wrench menu in Chrome, click ‘About’ then ‘Check for updates’
  4. Restart Chrome
  5. Download Googlepedia for Chrome (alpha)
  6. Open the file (it appears like nothing happens)
  7. Restart
  8. Check the url chrome-ui://extensions/
  9. Do a search on Google *fingers crossed*

If you have issues - please report them. There are quite a few bugs with this rough version.

Firefox will support multiple backgrounds :) Grab a nightly, this is a pretty sweet feature. Safari already does this.

Here’s a test page.

Digg!

This looks interesting. Keep an eye on this.

Got my development environment setup. Running XP on my MacBook Pro using VMware Fusion. The Unity mode really is impressive. Mounted a shared folder as a virtual drive so I can continue using Aptana on OSX and check into Subversion from there.
The Google Chrome port should be well on the way soon as long as I don’t run into any major snags *fingers crossed*.

Google Chrome on OSX

Can’t find a working build of Chromium on OSX yet. The Crossover Chromium is fairly buggy and doesn’t seem to have any extension support. Looks like I’ll be doing the development on a Windows XP Virtual Machine.

Yay. </sarcasm>

I’m looking forward to this…

New version of Googlepedia out. Now has external links icons.
